UK-based Blade Dynamics is gearing up to test an advanced assembly blade - which will be the only modular offshore blade in the world.
The group is shipping the D78 advanced model from its NASA-based manufacturing facility in New Orleans, USA to Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult's blade testing facility in Blythe, UK.
The 78m blade - labelled a 'game changer' - has been supported by the UK's Energy Technologies Institute since 2012 and boasts "multiple" new technologies which the group says will lower the cost of electricity.
